Playing The Mins Game - Days 23-29
The Mins Game is a decluttering / minimalism challenge where you remove one item on the 1st of a month, two on the 2nd, and so on, until you reach 30 on day 30... totalling 465 (not 475 as I'd miscalculated). My videos are stopping with day 29, but there's a good reason for that!

Martin & Eva - Our Testimony (7th April 2024)
post more live performances Martin, this is very good
Thanks so much! I'll try to, might be doing another couple of these events in the coming year
Tell me, is this Yamaha much inferior to the Taylor CE 214 plus?
No idea, never played one. Taylor make very nice guitars, so you Yamaha. YMMV
I love mine! Takes a little to get used to but I now fly on it
So it it is a bit quiet, acoustically?
It's not the loudest guitar in the world, but projects reasonably well IMO.
I read the finish was a guitar center exclusive. I think it’s original.
Yes I found that out later, thanks
Me neither
Привет
Sounds like you're on the right groove
Ever thought about. Mike Lull guitar? They look prettystunning.
For sure. But serious $$ and I'm kinda attached to my Suhrs
What kind of bass is that looks killer. Cool playing too!
Thanks! It's a Mike Lull P5, but with a Bartolini 58CBP pickup
If I had to have just one, it'd probably be an active/passive PJ.
Good choice
You need to work on your tone, fret buzz, and find more interesting lines.
Except that the tone was what I was wanting, there's no fret buzz anywhere here, and it was a clip of some improvising. But of course it's easy to talk down on someone from an account with no content.
Nonconstructive feedback is just that. It is difficult to evaluate tone quality without the context of other instruments. A solo instrumentalist has the right to use any tone they feel fit because fitting in a mix is not necessary. Tone becomes an opinion. I didn’t hear the fret buzz this person was speaking of, and I found your bass lines to be appropriate for many types of music. It wasn’t overly complex, maybe some would say “uninteresting,” but if bass players played the most interesting lines, we wouldn’t be providing the foundation most musics call for. Overall, your performance is clean. If I were to give a piece of constructive feedback, I’d say it’s worth working with a metronome for sometime each day to help tighten up some of your rhythms, but keep up the great work. I say we should always be building each other up. The world has enough negativity. I also don’t have any content on my account, but I do have a PhD in music education and a masters in bass performance so I know when a person has talent and potential. You have both Mr. Cliffe, so please keep up the great work.
love it !
that's very cool bro, how long did you learn to play the guitar until you could be like now ?
Thanks! I've played for 30 years or so, but I wouldn't say it's 30 years of continuous progress! Most technical learning happens in the first 2-3 years IMO. After that, some people broaden their scope, others just stay in that place!
@MartinCliffe I want to become proficient in playing bass, I am only 16 years old, do you think I can become proficient within a period of 3 years or less?
@@nibiru_official If you work hard at it, practice regularly, then sure. Finding a good teacher can help, as can getting out and playing with other musicians who are better than you.
Subbed
Still the 1k sub :)
I'm your 1000th sub, you better play Tengo Suerte bass parts by masayoshi takanaka :)
I'll check it out!
Is this a new addition? Ooooooooffffttttt.
No, this is the P5 I've had for 4 years. But it's got some grunt!
Hey. Nice groove and good talk. 😀 Thanks for the inspiration. Have a lovely summer. 🌤
Thanks so much, you too!
Great video! Thanks for great playing and a friendly chat! Cheers 🍻
i own 2 4 String and 1 5 String. A Fender P(J)Bass American Ultra and a Sandberg California VM4. For the 5 String an Ibanez SR 5005 ... Im fine with it, i play 99% of the time Metal or Rock... Being a Bassist is not my main job, i make money from it, but its more like a really ambitious hobby that pays itself and a little more :D ..
Sounds like a great collection!
Quanto costa la tua 12 corde.
In 2010 I think I paid about €750
Wonderful guitar playing, wonderful music, listened with great pleasure. Thanks! I wish you all the best and further creative success!
Is that a CS245 Celebrity Korean made ?
No, it's a Standard Elite 2758AX-NEB. Still made in (South) Korea though.
aren't you supposed to be dead?
Huh? Not last I checked...

Nice walkthrough 👍
Are the nut width of apx 1200 natural and black a bit different?
no they should be the same
According to “sweet water” the nut width of the natural colour is 1.692 on the other hand, the black one is 1.6875. Their scale length is a bit different too. The natural coloured one’s scale length is 25.5 whereas the black coloured one’s is 25.6 inches
@@masudmahmud3123 That contradicts what Yamaha themselves say. Nut width is 43mm (1 11/16" - 1.6875") and scale length is 650mm (25 9/16" - 25.5625") for both. They're just bad conversions from metric on Sweetwater.
Those DMZ pup on the P are high output pups. I had them on 1 of my basses. That's why there's more noise.
Sounds like shit
Forgot to add - your ovation 12 string is amazing, I love it.
Hi there Martin, may I ask you a couple of questions regarding Yamaha APX - in relation to sound , any huge differences between 1200 and 1000 ? I am from UK but in Guangzhou for a year or two, I noticed it is at least 30% cheaper here, would you buy one in china? . By the by I will be in Bucharest in summer 2024 my wife is from Romania- may see you then. All the best, Patrick
I've honestly not tried the 1000, but I believe the main difference is in wood used - the 1200 is rosewood back and sides while the 1000 is maple, so should acoustically be a little brighter sounding. Probably no real difference plugged in. As long as you're buying from a legit dealer, buying in Guangzhou should be fine... or pop over the border to HK and get one in Tom Lee Music if you're in doubt. That's where I bought my natural finish one.
I have one APX700ii and I like it a lot. Once I tryed the APX1000 on a store and I didn't like one thing, the neck finish is GLOSSY instead of natural. So it's a different feeling. The 1200 for sure is a better guitar with better woods.
Gracios compadre…. I am now buying a CPX 1000, brown sand burst @@arquivo225
What are you talking about dude.the tail cost $6 american.then no batteries. Jesus how is it you have a demo... TRY SINGLE COILS. LEARN HOW TO USE A FUZZ.THE HAT,THE SHIRT,THE BACKGROUND IS STRANGE.JUST SAYIN.
Single coils from 8:30 in, but you clearly didn't watch much of the video.
Hola
Sliding harmonics? Nice.
I wish I could afford one just a 12 string I think the sound is so beautiful, I go into a local small music store just to play a Martin 12 string and I can barely play a 6 string..thank you 🙌🏼🎸
It is a lovely sound. But hard work to play
you did not talk about the blk switch on the top
Well spotted. But that only affects power-up state, it has no impact on sound.
Yes. Yes it is.
Nice review, does the x-over affect the flanger? I´m kinda new to this kinda fx.
I think so, but I can’t remember for certain. Been a while since I sold the pedal
only thing i do not like is the battery thing 9 volt can be expensive Not for me but for some people overseas and also the way it goes in Not very easy When u play live u better get a new one 9 volts installed Preferably Duracell Great Guitar see other videos it sound great on this video by the way
Agreed, I dont understand why they didn't go with AA batteries like on the more recent APX guitars. But I find the battery lasts a long time, so it's not really a big issue. Just remember to unplug it when you're not using it.
i got the same guitarra got it few years back Still sound the same as the day i got ,,,,no issues,,,,quality is great.....but the best part i kno for sure is that this guitar sound better when is AMPLIFIED PROPERLY sounds excellent in our church enviroment.....sound did not change cause is already pre fabricated and dried at the factory..happy with it i only play it on special ocassions....I REPEAT SOUND DO NOT CHANGE unless is amplified different ,,,,,,,great for contemporary Christian type music 11 19 2023 go to my channeland look some of my videos with this Guitar tnks
Bass sounds bloody lovely.
#legalize_naturism_everywhere_today
Great video and should be more widely shown. It is full of body positivity. Fantastic😊❤
Thank you! Just trying to even the balance a little
Great demo! If anyone is familiar with the Gretsch Jim Dandy or Gin Rickey(acoustic electric) how would you say it compares? Thank you
Never played one, but the parlor body shape is different, longer and narrower, and obviously no cutaway. And the magnetic pickup would sound quite different to the piezo in the Yamaha. The Gretsch has a more conventional scale length (24" vs 22¾") too, so probably feels like a more normal guitar neck.
@@MartinCliffe Thanks for getting back to me. Your points are well taken!
I like this. Not sure what it sounds like but sounds quite familiar, especially the first part. Would be good for a film showing a rising or setting sun
Cheers. Not really sure, it's just noodling around Em and Am chords mostly. Stock patch on the Krome EX (A10 Minor Hammer's - not on the stock Krome as while the patches are similar, the Combis are quite different). Guitar is clean, just a subtle delay.
Do you have a proton v2 or v4 for sale ?
No sorry, sold both my v2 and v3, never had a v4.
Becoming? The internet's been boring for a long time. The media as a whole, psychologically programs the masses, indoctrinates them to becoming accepting of trivial, just generally boring tripe. And that's what the internet's become. One giant echo chamber ruled by multiple companies...or bots. I wouldn't entirely rule out the dead Internet "theory." Pretty much everyone's robotic, why wouldn't they gravitate towards boring jargon? That or trash.
Society (and certainly social media) has noticeably deteriorated even in the 2½ years since I posted this video. Truth has been smothered by commerce. Nothing new, but I guess to make anything ubiquitous you have to cater to the lowest common denominator...
@@MartinCliffe good point but also if media is appealing to the lowest common denominator then relevance is tossed by the wayside making relevance in the eyes of the public, irrelevant, and for the public, unavailable anyway. It's like at the corner street of some slums, when there's some biblical religious zealot with a bullhorn shouting out fearmongering biblethumpery the cops common response is, "Well, it's his freedom of speech.". Often the same response with companies too. Well, of course, religion just tells its followers to cowtow to the establishment and if any Christian ever gets serious about following the ideas of the bible that's when cops, companies, the establishment in general, doesn't like it. But if anyone was up there on the cross street with a bullhorn speaking against religion or better yet, speaking against the government, we know the cops and companies would switch their free speech stance and be against it. The media corporations/media moguls are preventing relevance and many people in corporations, politics, whatever, are switching their stance whenever it serves their agenda. Because anything can be argued in favor of or against at any time and if people make the argument that best suits the situation then they get the results that value solely them at the moment, not the results that values freedom and independence.
